I stopped watching X-Men '97 when they butchered the Goblin Queen.

4:00 i agree: my biggest complaint is the episodes weren't longer. I wanted more and more and eagerly waited for each episode. And then the finale dangles the biggest carrot in front us. It's so good that the only fault of it is there isn't enough. Characters were so great when they killed some i was actually so hurt because i wanted to see moreof all the characters

when magneto says theyre awesome powers" in the second episode i couldn't stop laughing and havent watched an episode since nothing can top that for me

wolverine and the xmen has aged really well and is actually really good. not as dark but basically pg-13 level

I feel the exact opposite of your opinion on the original series and I'm a newer fan. I always knew about X-Men but 97 inspired me to binge the original and it converted me into a major fan. I was genuinely surprised with how nuanced a lot of it's stories are. A stand out moment was Mystique straight up telling Kurt she never wanted him and that he was inconvenient. I was like "Dude this shit's deep for a 90s cartoon." Ms Marvel's episode made me care more about Carol Danvers in a 20 minute timespan than her MCU movie ever did and I genuinely felt sad for her situation. This show actually made me care about my least favorite superhero.

Finally got the Cyclops we deserve. The voice cast was phenomenal.

Nah you're dead wrong about the original show, animation wise sure it's hella dated but the stories and writing were solid, even from the first two episodes the writing on that show still holds up.

I never really like Xmen, didn't grow up on it, I immensely dislike this animation style, and the dialogue is so goofy. Though to be fair my favourite style of animation is basically anti-comic book or Anti-Anime. I like Archer, Invincible, Clone Wars and Rick and Morty all classify as good animation in my book, something about characters being immobile whilst only their mouths move in conversation scenes irks me.

I’ll admit I wasn’t a magneto fan originally going into this. In most of the visual adaptations he was just evil for no reason. But in this animated universe it actually makes sense. I’d like to think you get both sides of the argument. Xavier kinda fails in some ways in this season which isn’t a bad thing. Though in the next season I hope he has maybe one more chance to dialogue it out with the crew to inspire them, but that’s just me, I like the philosophical monologues when they have purpose to the other characters and they are able to talk it out. But regardless still the best overall x-men adaptation to date.

X-Men 97 absolutely follows from the original TAS, You can follow the story without having watched it But you will be missing like 50% of the character relationships

In the second film The A.I of the tentacles don't "want" anything So Otto is messing with the why the A.I works equally as much as the A.I is messing with him Also the A.I thinks that the sustainable energy will make it so that they'll be around when Otto eventually dies because, again, they're connected to a human brain and that brain is equally as in control as the A.I is

X Men 97 was solid, then the Genosha episode hit and it became a certified banger that was must watch television each and every week. For the love of god, please let Feige and company learn something from this show in regards to story telling.

Archangel was supposed to be part of the team but that never happened. Havok didn’t show up again to reveal he and Scott are brothers and I was disappointed with that. Bishop is considered a team member now but is underused. Season two will need better writers.

NGL, I thought you'd actually agree that this was bad. Someone explain how the "sentinel humans" are powered but are undetectable by say, for example, a basic metal detector, and are immune to psychic attacks. The entire thing falls apart if you think about it for literally 10 seconds. PS: Wolverine could literally never stab magneto, he's always protecting himself from metal projectiles and there's no way he wouldn't feel wolverine's metal body in close proximity to his own. PPS: They get Magento's helmet off, and professor x launches a psychic attack that doesn't just put magneto into a coma or something? Oh yeah, and rogue punches sentinel man who is supposedly human. with her gloves on cuz she wouldn't want to suck out his life force. It's all very very form over substance.

this is the actual best thing that marvel has done since endgame, and that's coming from someone that loved many mcu projects like nwh, moonknight, and loki, but man, this show was something else

I didn’t like it. I am a X-men fan and I didn’t like the writing. I thought it was mediocre and overrated. I didn’t like how Rogue and Morph was handled. It feels like more plot holes were made than were presently there in the original series. The Rogue, Magneto, and Gambit love triangle is creepy and doesn’t make sense with the original canon. Rogue was a teenager when she first met Mystique. So her getting involved with Magneto at that point is even more creepy than her as adult.

Val's speech to bastion and the immediate action that followed it was some of the coldest media I've ever seen marvel produce. The chuds were right, this shit is woke as hell and I love it.

Original show was trash? You serious? This show is just the continuation of original show. That's why OG fans loved this new show.

I never liked x-man movies, never read comic books but someone show me ep 6 and i was like holy shit, i must watch this show. Like you said, great entry point for someone who dont know much about x-man. 9/10

Wolverine not mentioned during review: Accurate to show importance

The fact that Marcus's criticism is basically "I want more" shows that this show is THE SHIT

I absolutely refuse to say this show looks like anything but total shit, specifically the art style, it’s flat and soulless and just full stop ugly as fuck. This is not a critique of the writing which is quite good. Computers will be the death of good animation, and by will be I mean already have been.

I hope that they knew exactly what they were doing by making this the first X-Men series out of the gate and that when it comes to live action the MCU will be taking its cue from this. Obviously there are things live action can never accomplish but the character work is the easiest thing to translate if done right and this show nailed it. Now we know they can do it. So if the first X-Men movie fails these characters it won't be because they aren't capable of making them work.

Sounds like you should have given this atleast 9/10. You gave season 2 of Invincivble 8/10 but it sounded like you liked this way more.

It is a 9.0 /10. You're right it a little rush, but it's still amazing tv show. Combat scene it off the chart 👌🏾 👏🏾 better than Marvel cinema 😂

For years I never truly paid them any mind because I thought of them as a "plot hole" because they existed in a world whose FIRST pair of super powered individuals were LOVED while the second pair was hated for reasons that people wouldn't realistically be aware of. Now they're one of my favorites and what I call "the Marvel conversation" becomes more nuanced

Best thing marvel done since endgame

This show also made something clear to me. I think we're seeing a lot of people enter the animation industry that clearly watched a lot of anime growing up. Like, the action scenes have that special feel you see in anime vs. western action. At times watching Rogue felt like watching Goku.
